As the parent of a child enrolled in ECP, you will:
1. Co-op in the classroom on a scheduled basis, approximately 5-7 times per year, and provide a snack and beverage for class on those days. 2. Substitute for aide on a scheduled basis, if needed. 3. Work on a committee or serve on the Executive Board. 4. Attend parent education meetings. 5. Drive on field trips, approximately 2 times per year. 6. Participate in one housekeeping session per child in the school. 7. Participate in fundraisers. There is one mandatory fundraiser each year.
Classes run from September to May and follow the same holiday calendar as Howard County Public Schools. There are two parent-teacher conferences a year. Children must be toilet trained prior to the first day of school. Disposable training underwear (e.g. Pull-Ups), plastic pants, and other leakage barriers are not permitted. As a cooperative preschool ("co-op"), the parents play a vital role in every aspect of the school. Parents and teachers jointly manage all aspects of the operation, including curriculum implementation, financial management, logistical oversight, fundraising, and maintenance/upkeep.
East Columbia Preschool admits children without regard to race, color, creed, sex or national origin.
